OSTRAVA GRAND PRIX is now bigger than ever before. The tournament as the one of the  most significant tournaments in Czech republic has been placed among the qualifying tournaments for Czech National Championship Up to 13 years and Senior categories. We expect  for this year even more superior participation than in the last year and we believe that Saturday, 25th October 2008 will turn into the real celebration of Karate we will all remember for a long time. ***

Entry fee:

200 CZK ( 8 EURO / 250 SKK / 28 PLN ) per individual (participation of an individual in all disciplines except for the teams is to be paid by a single fee)

400 CZK ( 16 EURO / 500 SKK / 56 PLN ) for a kata team or a kumite team.

If you pay the participation fee in a foreign currency, the change shall be returned in Czech korunas.

RULES OF COMPETITION :

The competition shall be organized according to WKF rules and these instructions.

Each contestant can start only in one category with the exception of the categories KATA juniors and KATA seniors.
 
  Contestant can start either in his/her age category (age category in the day of the tournament) or qualifying category (age category in the period of Czech National Championship Youth: 7.12.2008, Czech National Championship Cadets and Juniors: 6.12.2008). There is no need „alternative start“ for the start in the qualifying category.
 
  Order, in which contestants compete within their relevant categories, shall be generated by the random number method.
 
  A contest in a category shall start, if there are at least 4 contestants in it. In case of lower number of participants, the organizer reserves the right to either join categories or cancel the category in question.
 
  In each category with more than 3 contestants, two third places shall be announced. The main referee shall take decision about a possible repechage, short repechage or determination of ranking without a repechage before starting the discipline in question.
 
  Contestants must wear a KARATE-GI or sportswear with names of their respective clubs on the victory rostrum.
 


Detailed rules for KATA contest:


The competition is held for the styles of Shotokan – Ryu, Goju – Ryu, Shito – Ryu and Wado – Ryu.
 
  A kata team shall be allocated into a category according to its oldest contestant.
 
  In the categories up to the 7th kyu - younger girls/boys (i.e. A 1, A 3) kata may be repeated. In these categories also Taikyoku kata (Shotokan style), or possibly Fukyu kata (Goju ryu style) etc. are allowed.
 
  Contestants in the categories from the 6th kyu - younger - girls/boys (A2 and A4) may repeat a kata maximally one time in an alternating way (it is not allowed to repeat the kata two times consecutively).
 
  Unless the main referee decides otherwise, Other contestants shall perform a different kata from the WKF list according to their choice in each round and they are not allowed to repeat it.
 
  In the final kata teams contests, bunkai is a part of the group exercise.
 
  Results of the KATA competition shall be announced after finishing the final contests, within the tournament ceremonial opening.
 


Detailed rules for KUMITE contest:


Confirmation of medical check not older than 12 months is a precondition for participation in the competition.
 
  Unless the main referee decides otherwise, a contest in the younger boys/girls category shall last 60”, in older boys/girls categories 90” and in other categories 120” .
 
  All the Contestants must use gumshields, hand pads and girl cadets, juniors and seniors must wear female chest protector,. Younger boys must wear groin guards (jock strap). There are mandatory combined shin and foot pads (so called boots) for the categories Cadets male and female and for higher categories. Contestants must ensure red and blue distinguishing belts for themselves and hand pads (AO, AKA).
 
  Each contestant may start only in one category in each discipline with the exception of the senior category C 37 (open) in which also the contestants participating in the KUMITE in other senior categories i.e. C 32 – C 36 may take part.
 
  In KUMITE discipline the winners shall be decorated on an ongoing basis.
   

Prizes for winners:

Cup (1st place), medals, certificate, material prize from sponsors of the competition.
 

Protests:

To be lodged with the chief referee after paying the protest fee of 300 CZK (10 €, 370 SKK, 42 PLN).

Change from foreign currency payment shall be returned in Czech korunas. In case of an illegitimate protest, the fee is not returned.
 
REGISTRATION OF CONTESTANTS nly registered contestants may participate in the competition. They have to send a duly filled in application forms (lists of contestants), by 20th October 2008, 4.00 pm at the latest, via e-mail to fr.saidl@seznam.cz  or by post to the address Fr.Saidl, H.Salichove 901, 725 25 Ostrava-Polanka, Czech Republic. After expiration of the registration deadline, the order of contestants in starting lists shall be drawn. After this, the preliminary „starting keys“ will be announced on the tournament website www.karatetygr.cz/vco
 
  On the competition day, only lists of registered contestants shall be checked. A coach shall receive, at the place intended for payment of the participation fee, a printed list of contestants of their club, they shall correct wrong or outdated data and shall pay the participation fee for all contestants of their club who applied for the tournament. The participation fee may be paid separately during registration for KATA and KUMITE categories.
 
  Before the KUMITE competition, during the registration, all contestants shall be weighed and validity of their medical examination shall be checked.
 
▪   Contestants, for whom the participation fee is not paid on time, shall be deleted from the list of contestants.
 

ORGANIZATIONAL AND TECHNICAL CONDITIONS OF THE CONTEST

 
  The sport hall in Ostrava – Polanka nad Odrou, by Helena Salichova Elementary school was inaugurated in 2004.

The sport hall itself is equipped with superior quality dressing rooms with sanitary facilities and high quality technical background. There will be a buffet available in the hall, offering a various offer of beverages and foods. In the case of interest it is possible to use services of the school canteen which will be open for this purpose during the contest (see below).

There is a football stadium with a restaurant in the vicinity of the sport hall as well as a lot of green together with walking paths.
The contest will take place on 4 tatamis. The contestants will be allowed to warm themselves up in the warm-up room or in gymnasium of the elementary school.


ACCOMMODATION:

Accommodation for the participants is FREE of charge and will be provided on the premises of the Elementary School of Helena Salichova, which is located in the vicinity of the sports hall. Vacated classrooms, refurbished sanitary facilities and also a gymnasium, which can be used for training, will be available.
